The photos in this book were taken during my year-long residence in the village of Kato Arhanes (Crete), a small centuries-old community of farmers, shop keepers, and retirees. The villages - Kato Arhanes and Pano Arhanes - are surrounded by groves of olive trees and fields of cultivated grapes. Most of the village houses are constructed from rough-cut quarried and field stone with terra cotta roofs. Most village streets and pathways are paved with similar stone and are narrow meandering passageways. In the main, though, this is a book of photographer's snapshots. During my frequent walkabouts in villages and countryside, whenever something caught my attention I took a 'snapshot'. As such, this is a book of memories I offer to share with you.

A note from the author - photographer - publisher:The new book covers should provide a better idea of the book's contents. The book contains more than one hundred and fifty high-resolution color digital photographs that are representative of the everyday life in the villages of the Arhanes valley of Crete.
Quality photography requires quality publication, and publishing such a book is a bit more expensive than your typical mass-market paperback - of course, you, the reader-viewer, know that.
I hope to return to Crete and continue photographing the Arhanes area (among other areas of Crete), and to publish an updated volume of 'A Walkabout In Crete Villages'. Will you please help me to do that by purchasing this current volume of this book title? Your purchase, your support, will help make this future trip a reality.
Thanks..!
